I am not sure about anyone else but these last few months have got me missing my travels more than ever. That said it has given me plenty of time to reflect and take stock of where I’ve been and where I’d like to go in the future. Like many of you that I have spoken with, this period has given me the chance to appreciate how lucky we are that travel is so accessible nowadays and I feel ever grateful that it comes as a perk to my job!
Last year I visited Singapore for the first time and it was up there as one of my favourite new places I have travelled to. It was an amazing place to shop andyou guys know that always comes high up my list when visiting different countries! From the amazing rooftop bars, hotels and culture it really opened my eyes to something different and not forgetting any Crazy Rich Asians fans; it’s where the movie was filmed!
I wanted to share with you all a few of my top picks from my time there; Atlas Bar is a must see. It had an art deco feel with Gatsby style interiors on a grand and impressive scale. Offering every cocktail you can think of I made sure to make my way through their extensive drinks menu – a perfect location for evening cocktails, date nights or drinks with friends. Another favourite was Altitude Bar which had more of a late night feel to it with amazing views of Singapore that you just have to see. Also a little fact for you all – it’s the world’s highest open rooftop bar.
Another rooftop winner with food to match was Ce la Vi, a contemporary Asian Restaurant/Bar and the fact it had my favourite ever food on the menu (Black Cod) made it even better. It was just divine!
For those of you that prefer the more cultural offerings, Singapore also has lots of amazing street food markets, a few I would personally recommend are listed below;
Lau Pa Sat Festival Market
Chinatown Food Street
Changi Village Food Center
The Chinatown street market was a personal favourite with vibrant influences from further afield in Asia.
One of the most iconic places to stay in Singapore is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. It’s the hotel with the boat at the top and it has the world’s largest rooftop pool with amazing views over the city. It’s also located very close by to all the designer shops for you girls who are into your shopping like me. ‘THE SHOPPES’ at Marina Bay Sands – go check them out.
The Louis Vuitton store there is possibly the biggest one I have ever been to, it was amazing and I couldn’t leave without a new bag and shoes.
If you are into taking cute pictures like me 😉 then I would also recommend visiting Emerald Hill for it’s cute colourful houses, perfect for capturing outfit snaps with a colourful background. For equally impressive backdrops, Gardens by the Bay is beautiful, somewhere you SIMPLY MUST visit during your stay.
I always love sharing my travels with you all and if you want to see more on my Singapore trip you can watch my VLOG on my youtube channel for the whole experience. Happy to answer any other questions/messages you may have on the city and would love to know how many of you who follow my FASHIONDIARIES are based there?
Hope you are all keeping busy and safe. Get planning those 2021 travels as I hope it’s going to be a busy year for us all once the airports open up again. Hopefully Singapore will be on your list and even if you don’t fancy it as an end destination, it’s a perfect place to stop over for a few days if you are on your way to anywhere in the Far East or Australia.
Catch you all soon
